The facility and staff at Woodward Hills Rehabilitation Center are outstanding! It’s hard to leave your Mom in someone else’s care but Woodward Hills made it much easier. David Nurse, Concierge, was our first point of contact. He has been kind and supportive throughout this time in our lives. And he is someone who follows through with everything requested of him. David is surrounded by experienced care workers, social workers, etc who work together creating a safe, clean and welcoming environment for everyone walking through the doors. Thank you all for taking great care of our Mom.
The place looks nice. There are fancy cars galore in the parking lot on Sundays. The staff is generally kind, patient and responsive to patients. The patients look well cared for. There are lots of organized activities for them. The front desk personnel are all wonderful and very helpful. The rooms are clean and spacious. The food is decent.
However, the caregiver staff makes occasional mistakes, some of which can be alarming. You MUST visit frequently, speak up, and monitor your loved one's care closely. Mistakes occur largely because communication could be improved amongst the nursing staff and between the nursing staff and the family.
During a stay of over a month, I never once saw or heard from the doctor who was responsible for my loved one's care, including during a brief hospital visit ordered by this doctor. He is clearly not an on site physician.
Though the therapy staff was very pleasant, PT and OT results for my loved one were minimal. This was very disappointing.
Under NO circumstances should you leave your loved ones with any cash or valuables.
To Woodward Hills' credit, we were reimbursed for the items that went missing from my relative's room.
Note: Double check ALL discharge prescriptions to make sure they are correct and complete.
Where do I start? My uncle was here for little over a month and when I tell you this has been the WORST experience EVER. He didn’t receive physical therapy till over a week in half. I had to come up there EVERYDAY and wash him up because nobody gave him a shower after begging and pleading with them to give him one they never did. He only had a shower twice while being there. Only reason he had one because he had a doctor appointment and when he was leaving the facility. When he was first there he was isolated because of him having Covid and he wasn’t getting no type of care, everyday I would come his clothes are soak and wet nobody change his clothes only thing they did was bring him food. After getting moved out of isolation nothing change, my uncle would call me and tell me how he’s using the call light and nobody was attending to his needs. I even had to leave work a couple of times and attend to him because of him being soak. And then when I ask why is he wet nobody had an answer or when I ask about showers they would tell me “ooh we going to give him one, I’m going to make sure” and he never got one. Also I would have to ask for them to change the sheets because they were filthy and noticeable and they did not care. Even the person sharing the room with him their family would tell me how he wasn’t getting the proper care. After complaining to the nurses and got me nowhere, I went to the social worker and she was very nonchalant like she didn’t care. I even ask to speak to the DON, and nobody returned my called. Management doesn’t care about your family, they only care about your money. so I don’t recommend this place for NOBODY.
Maria in Admissions, Marlena in Concierges have been incredibly helpful to my Mom and I. They went out of their way to ensure that she had the necessary room and assistance, for which I am truly grateful. In addition, they have always been kind and courteous whenever I interact with them. Since I am leaving for a while, they kindly offered to check on my mother and ensure that she is doing well. The activity department is also wonderful. They plan great activities and they are very kind to the residence. Overall, they have been wonderful, and I am very appreciative of their hard work and dedication.
We love Ms Marlena and all the Staff at Woodward Hills. My mom had a terrible, traumatic experience at another rehab and was timid about entering the care of another facility. Ms Marlena has won us over! The care mom has received is top notch, and she has had a fantastic experience while here. Thank you to Woodward Hills for such gentle, kind care. Mom is healing nicely.
Rehab is consistent but low key . Nursing staff does their best, but persistently short staffed. Very clean facility and garden was lovely in the fall. We appreciated the bedroom window view .
Pain relief was an issue. Off site pharmacy delayed initial pain meds - significant improvements required.
Rehab doc and hospitalist were excellent.
Overall, easier than taking an aged parent home after surgery.
The DON welcomed a very anxious, post-operative person with open arms. She assisted me closely until I had a private room and knew the schedule of the facility. The Nurses Stephanie and Jarrah were outstanding always explaining meds, tests, and vital signs results. Had a lot of patience with me and my family. Maria the CENA shows she enjoys her job. I waited for her in the morning with breakfast and clean towels. Other outstanding staffs were Khan and Courtney in Physical Therapy and Taylor and Samantha in Activities. The concierge helped out with all our needs and was Pop very pleasant. My stay here served the purpose of good rehabilitation results. I would come back and recommend Woodward Hills to family and friends.
I wish I could give this place a 6 stars! My room is awesome, staff is great & i’m grateful my insurance covered here.
